Our Mission

Minori connects makers and customers through a shared appreciation for Japanese tradition, textiles, and craftsmanship. While many brands sell Japanese-inspired clothing, few celebrate the makers behind the products.

We offer one-of-a-kind garments made from vintage fabric, focusing on not only the beauty of the product itself but also the hands that made it.

Through storytelling and education, we highlight each artisan's unique craft, building a community where customers feel connected to the people and culture behind every piece they purchase — and makers feel connected to those who appreciate their craft.

Our Values

Connection

Through the Minori Maker Seal (判子 / はんこ, hanko), many of our pieces are traceable to their maker, and we hope that soon every garment can hold a clear and personal link to its creator.

Our goal is to create an avenue for you to write to and express appreciation to the makers of your clothing. We want gratitude to move in both directions. Every Minori piece is designed to carry a living connection between you and the hands that made it, as well as to the traditions and places in Japan where these skills continue to be practiced.

Connection, for us, is not only between people, but between cultures, histories, and shared appreciation.

Education

Many of our garments are made using techniques such as iron dyeing (鉄媒染 / てつばいせん, tetsubaisen), sashiko stitching (刺し子 / さしこ, sashiko), shibori resist dyeing (絞り / しぼり, shibori), indigo dyeing (藍染 / あいぞめ, aizome), persimmon tannin dye (柿渋 / かきしぶ, kakishibu), kasuri weaving (絣 / かすり, kasuri), and boro patchwork (襤褸 / ぼろ, boro), among others that reflect the gamut of Japanese textile traditions.

Artisans across Japan continue to practice, refine, and pass them down to the next generation. By sharing their stories and the history behind each fabric, we invite you to understand what you are wearing and to value the people who keep these crafts alive.

Education is not simply about information. It is about awareness, respect, and connecting with the people, places, and traditions that give each garment meaning. When you understand the hands and history behind what you wear, your relationship to it changes. Knowledge deepens appreciation, and appreciation leads to stewardship.

Quality

Every piece is made by hand in Japan by skilled makers and shaped by thoughtful decisions about how best to honor the fabric available to us. Because we work with vintage textiles, some delicate or previously repaired, our garments may not reflect the uniform precision of a factory line.

What they reflect instead is something rarer: discernment in fabric, skill in working with aged and reclaimed textiles, bold expression rooted in tradition, and attention that cannot be scaled. Slight irregularities are evidence of human touch and effort. Fading, mending, softness from wear, and visible repair are not defects but chapters in the life of the garment.

We believe this is a different measure of quality, one rooted in respect for the fabric, the touch of human hands, and the history carried within the garment.

Renewal

We give new life to textiles that were originally crafted with extraordinary skill and intention. Many of these fabrics come from kimono and other garments that are worn less frequently today, yet were created to the highest standards of material and artistry. By restoring and reimagining these textiles, we place them back into meaningful use rather than allowing them to fade into storage or waste.

Renewal, for us, means honoring the hands that first made the fabric while ensuring it remains alive in the present. It is stewardship of material, culture, and beauty.

Care

Minori exists because of people. The people who wear our garments, the people who make them, and the people who support the work are at the center of everything we do.

Without you, our business would not exist.

We believe the way we conduct ourselves matters as much as the garments we produce. Our work is built on gratitude and in a community where people feel seen, heard, and valued.

Faith

Minori means harvest in Japanese. We faithfully prepare the soil using the opportunities, skills, strengths, and knowledge we have been given, trusting God with the growth.

The gospel shapes the way we work. Because we have received grace, we seek to extend grace. Because we are loved, we aim to love well. Customers, makers, employees, and every person our business touches are served with grace and love.

In Christ Jesus, our work is given purpose beyond profit. It becomes an offering of gratitude, a means of service, and a small reflection of the restoration He is bringing to all things.
